Fecal Matters: Front Street Beach, East is CLOSED to Water Contact Recreation, Clallam County

BEACH Program Update

On November 17, 2017, the Makah Beach Program issued a closure to water contact recreation at Front Street Beach, East. This closure was issued due to high levels of fecal bacteria in the water. This beach will be sampled again next week to determine if bacteria levels have decreased. The public is advised to avoid contact with the water until further notice.

Contact with fecal contaminated waters can result in gastroenteritis, skin rashes, upper respiratory infections, and other illnesses. Children and the elderly may be more vulnerable to waterborne illnesses.

Fecal Matters: Freeland County Park beach CLOSED to swimming, Island County

BEACH Program Update

On September 1, 2016, Island County Public Health issued a "No Contact" health advisory for Freeland County Park beach. The closure was issued due to high fecal bacteria levels in the water. The public is advised to avoid any contact with the water until further notice.

Contact with fecal contaminated waters can result in gastroenteritis, skin rashes, upper respiratory infections, and other illnesses. Children and the elderly may be more vulnerable to waterborne illnesses.

Fecal Matters: Padden Lagoon and south Boulevard Park beaches in Bellingham CLOSED to water contact recreation, Whatcom County

BEACH Program Update


On February 22, 2016, a water contact closure was issued for the Padden Creek Lagoon and South Boulevard Park beaches in Bellingham.  The closure is due to a raw sewage discharge to Padden Creek.  These beaches will remain closed to water contact recreation until further notice.

Fecal Matters: No contact advisory issued for Cap Sante marina area and beaches, Anacortes, Skagit County

BEACH Program Update


On February 15, 2016, a water contact closure was issued for the Cap Sante marina and park area beaches due to a sewage overflow.  Bacteria water sampling will occur on February 16.  The Cap Sante beaches will remain closed to water contact recreation until bacteria levels have dropped.

Fecal Matters: Carkeek Park CLOSED to swimming, Seattle, King County

BEACH Program Update


On January 16, 2016, Carkeek Park in Seattle, King County was CLOSED to swimming due to a sewage discharge to Pipers Creek, which flows to the beach. Repair of the leak is in process, sampling this beach will occur on Tuesday to determine if the beach can be reopened.  This beach will remain closed to water contact recreation until further notice.

Fecal Matters: Beaches around Cap Sante Marina CLOSED to water contact recreation, Anacortes, Skagit County

BEACH Program Update

On November 17, 2015 Skagit County Public Health Department issued a "No Water Contact" health advisory for beaches around Cap Sante Marina in Anacortes.  Due to heavy rains a manhole cover is discharging sewage to the area around the marina.  The public is advised to avoid any contact with the water until further notice.

BEACH Program Update

On November 17, 2015 Clallam County Health Department issued a "No Water Contact" health advisory for Clallam Bay in Clallam County.  Due to heavy rains the sewage treatment plant is discharging sewage to Clallam Bay.  The public is advised to avoid any contact with the water until further notice.
