On July 24, 2015, Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department lifted the advisory for Owen Beach/Point Defiance Park and reopened the beach for water contact recreation. Contact with fecal contaminated waters can result in gastroenteritis, skin rashes, upper respiratory infections, and other illnesses. Children and the elderly may be more vulnerable to waterborne illnesses.
