Fecal Matters: Swimming Advisory Issued for Titlow Park Beach, Pierce County

BEACH Program Update

On July 1, 2016, Tacoma Pierce County Health Department issued a swim advisory for Titlow Park beach. The Health Department recommends people keep out of the water until 12:00 p.m. on July 2, 2016 due to a small sewage spill near the beach. The public is advised to avoid contact with the water until that time.

Contact with fecal contaminated waters can result in gastroenteritis, skin rashes, upper respiratory infections and other illnesses. Children and the elderly may be more vulnerable to waterborne illnesses.

Stay updated about water quality at your beaches by keeping up with us on Facebook, checking beach status on Coastal Atlas, or joining our listserv. Debby Sargeant is the BEACH Program Manager and is available at dsar461@ecy.wa.gov for questions.
